First Visit
If your first visit is scheduled for a consultation, you will be brought into the dental operatory by our friendly and skilled dental assistant. Dr. Tortora or Dr. Eskandar will introduce themselves and ascertain from you, your complaints and concerns. He will review your comprehensive medical history, and after a thorough exam, go over any questions and formulate a treatment plan. In most cases, this is sufficient. Although, for complex cases or extensive patient treatment a separate follow up appointment may be necessary. All treatment plans will be fully explained and financial details will be discussed prior to the start of any treatment. Pre-treatment estimates are always suggested, but not necessary, to insurance carriers. It is important to us that all patients understand all their payment options and have a full understanding of their dental benefits ad their co-pays.
If your first visit is with our hygienist, for a dental cleaning, we will take the time to evaluate your gums and teeth with periodontal probing, oral hygiene instruction, as well as provide patient education of oral disease and its prevention. Our dental cleanings offer Fluoride Free prophy paste and natural mouth rinses. We request a full set of x-rays less than 5 years old from a previous dentist to be viewed at time of examination. We will only take new x-rays if they are unattainable or of poor quality. Our x-rays are digital, which reduces radiation exposure by 85 percent.
Your initial appointment, will consist of an examination and review of your treatment options. Usually, treatment cannot be done or started the same day as the consultation or hygiene appointment. However, we will do our best to address your immediate concerns, and help you schedule future appointments while you are in the office.
Please assist us by providing the following information BEFORE the time of your consultation by filing out all your online forms once they are sent you. Having these things prior to your arrival will allow us the time to properly prepare for your visit:
- Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
- A list of medications you are presently taking.
- Your dental insurance. This will save time and allow us to check on your insurance benefits and eligibility prior.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
